Ready, Set... GO!

We've purchased our tickets for Ireland today!

We leave from Houston International Airport at 11:15am on Tuesday, June 21st.  Our itinerary takes us through Chicago, then on to Dublin.  We arrive in Dublin on Wednesday, June 22nd at 8:25am.  They say that June 21st is the longest day of the year.  I'm guessing they might just be right.

I was thinking this morning about my call to missions and how even as a 14 year old I sensed God was calling me.  I remembered how during my years at Point Loma that call grew.  My experiences in Africa and Central America only confirmed God's leading in my life.  For the past 21 years I've been following Jesus.  It's been an incredible journey.  There were days early on when I was looking ahead, wondering where God would lead us.  I'm so thankful that somewhere on this journey I discovered the joy of following God in the moment.  It was no longer just about the future. It was about now!  It was about walking WITH Jesus!

Yet as I opened the email confirming the purchase of our tickets to Ireland I could not help think how the future is now!

Can I be honest with you?  I'm scared!  I mean it's overwhelming isn't it?  Moving halfway across the world to a place you don't know!  But I'm not scared because I don't think God knows what He's doing, or because I don't want to follow Him to Ireland.  I'm scared because once again I don't have the answers, and once again I'm going to have to put my trust completely in Him!  I can't wait!  Actually... wait a minute... I'm already doing it, walking by faith... not knowing where I'm going... and  I'd seriously recommend it!

Allow me to share what my Pastor/DS, Randy Craker shared with me, words from Joshua 1:9.  "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

You really ought to try it... remember GOD is with you wherever you go!
