The Journey Begins...

It hardly seems possible that we’re heading to Ireland. I never thought sitting in the opening session of District Assembly listening to Dr. Jesse Middendorf that our decision that evening would lead us down this path, but you never do know where your “yes” to Jesus will lead you.

Dr. Middendorf had asked if anyone was comfortable, and the next thing I knew I was kneeling at the front of that auditorium confronted with the call of God to GO! I remember leaving that altar wondering what Annette would say.  I had no idea that while I was kneeling at the altar, our great God was speaking to her heart too.

When we got to the car Annette turned to me and asked me what God and I were talking about at the altar.  I was a little reluctant because I really didn’t know what she would think, so I did what any chicken would do, I deflected and turned the question on her.  I was overwhelmed when she said, “it’s time!”

The call that had been on the back burner for years, was suddenly boiling over.  It was time to go!

Like I said, I had no idea how one evening would alter the course of our lives.  Yet there in the parking lot the adventure began.

Prayers were prayed, letters were written and we found ourselves visiting Ireland to meet with a host of wonderful people. We were falling in love with those people and that wonderful emerald isle.

On returning home we continued to pray, asking God for His guidance and clear leading.  It was less than a month later that we received a call to go to Ireland as specialized assignment missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene.

The week before Christmas God led us to Isaiah 49 where we read the following:

“Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name....

and a little later...

It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring those of Israel I have kept.  I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

It was clear to us... our God was calling us from Richland, to Ireland...

And so the journey begins... and as it does we invite you to join us in this excellent adventure.
